PodoPediatrics 2017, Drs. Grady, Agnew & DeCaro live 04-25-17

This show will highlight the best of PodoPediatrics in 2017.

Drs. John Grady, Patrick Agnew and Louis DeCaro will share with each of us the needed skills we all need to catapult our practice in the treatment of kids.

Dr. John Grady is the recipient of the APMA 2010 Award of Excellence, the 2008 Midwest Distinguished Faculty Award, and the 2000 Alumnus of the Year Award from Rosalyn Franklin University.
Dr. Grady had been a former faculty member at the William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalyn Franklin University (Director of Sports Medicine for eight years and Assistant Chairman of Orthopedics for eight years) until 1989. Dr. Grady has been directing the foot and ankle surgical residency in the VA Chicago Healthcare System for 24 years. In addition, Dr. Grady has been active in research and has had more than 25 publications. In addition to these things, Dr. Grady has been on the Midwest board (President in 1999) and he has been Scientific Chairman of the Midwest Podiatry Convention since 2001 and President of the Illinois Podiatric Medical Association in 2000.

Patrick Agnew, DPM, attended the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine where he earned four research awards and the clinical award for the highest degree of clinical proficiency in the class. He served as vice president of the class. Dr. Agnew served a Podiatric Surgical residency directed by Dr. James Ganley, how was widely considered leading authority in pediatric podiatry. Dr. Agnew has been board certified in Foot and ankle surgery since 1990. He was trained in microvascular surgery at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. Dr. Agnew’s memberships include: Advisory panel of the Ehlers-Danlos National Foundation, the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Virginia Podiatric Medical Association, the Hampton Roads Podiatric Medical Society, and the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States. He is a past president of the American College of Foot and Ankle Pediatrics and the Hampton Roads Podiatric Medical Society. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Academic appointments include: Adjunct faculty Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, he is the founder and director of the Eastern Virginia Medical School Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residencies. Dr. Agnew is the pediatrics section editor of the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is a manuscript reviewer for the journal of the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States, Military Medicine. He also, is the pediatrics editor of the newsletter of the Virginia Podiatric Medical Association, Footnotes. Dr. Agnew is a Captain in the Unites States Naval Reserve, retired. He was decorated for service during Operation Desert Shield/Storm and served on active duty in the International War on Terror in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Hobbies include: Surfing, Korean Karate, SCUBA, and Snowboarding.

Dr. DeCaro specializes in pediatrics with a special interest in sports medicine and biomechanics for both adults and pediatrics. He is president of the American College of Foot & Ankle Pediatrics (ACFAP), a gold star fellow of the AAPPM, fellow of the ASPM, APMA mentor, and is board certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in Podiatry. Dr. DeCaro is also a member of AAPSM and a peer reviewer for Foot & Ankle Online Journal. He is the Medical Director of Stride Orthotics custom orthotics lab and co-owner and co-inventor of littleSTEPS and Quadrasteps orthotics. Dr. DeCaro had the distinct honor of being featured on “Lunchtime with the Masters” on the subject of Podopediatrics. He served on the Massachusetts board of Podiatry for 10 years. Dr. DeCaro has published in JAPMA and Podiatry Management Magazine several times. Recently he was awarded a “One of the top 150 DPM’s in America” by Podiatry Management Magazine.

Dr. DeCaro graduated from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine Class of 1999. He has gone back to the school several times to teach pediatrics, biomechanics, as well as give the commencement address for the Podiatry school both in 2015 and this year, 2017. He is currently in private practice with an office in West Hatfield, MA. He is a member of the surgical & medical staff at Franklin Medical Center and Holyoke hospital. Dr. DeCaro is the Director and originator of the Adult Gait Labs Biomechanics Clinic, which takes place biweekly at his office.

He also directs a weekly Lower Extremity Podo-Orthopedic clinic. In 2004 he originated this clinic as well to better serve special needs children with podopediatric concerns. Dr. DeCaro routinely works alongside multiple specialists including MD’s, DO’s, therapists, orthotists, and Cpeds. Pediatric patients are evaluated for any lower extremity issue both by monitoring gait patterns and examining static biomechanical findings.

Dr. DeCaro believes in the mantra “Prevention begets Correction” He is passionate about pediatric podiatry education as to encourage more prevention before the need for correction.
